Why Lewes Castle for an outdoor wedding in Sussex?

Lewes Castle is a unique historical wedding venue for hire in East Sussex.

Surrounded by the southern English hills, Lewes castle lies at the heart of the East Sussex county town of Lewes. Built in 11th century by followers of William the Conqueror, the castle was first home to his loyal friend William de Warenne and his beloved wife Gundrada, the first Earl and Countess of Surrey.

Close to 1,000-years after being built, Lewes Castle is now one of the region’s few outdoor wedding venues, allowing you and your loved one to exchange your vows in the sunshine while treating your guests to panoramic views of Sussex countryside.

The ruins of the castle keep offer 360 degree views of the South Downs providing a magical outdoor backdrop to your special wedding day. With beautiful grounds including mature trees, roses and summer flowers growing up and around the flint walls of the castle, an idyllic atmosphere is guaranteed as you experience one the most important moments of your life.

Celebrating your wedding at the Lewes Castle means adding your own love story to the history of this beautiful site as well as helping to support and preserve local heritage.
