A Roman school trip to Fishbourne Roman Palace – Primary Schools

Looking to arrange a trip with a Primary School to learn about the Romans? Fishbourne Roman Palace, near Chichester, offers a range of bespoke sessions for those on their Key Stage One and Key Stage Two learning journeys.

What to expect from your trip?

Our most popular Roman school trip for Primary Schools is “Roman Life”. This is an ideal introduction to Roman life for those in Year One to Year Six.

This practical workshop gives children a chance to try a variety of hands-on activities including spinning wool, writing on wax tablets, mosaic-making, arch building and role play in the Roman kitchen. Each child has the opportunity to dress as a slave and selected children will also dress in full Roman costume.

The sessions will be led by a member of the award-winning Learning team at Sussex Past.

A visit will also include entry to Fishbourne Roman Palace, the largest domestic Roman property in the country. Pupils will love exploring the grounds, which are the oldest formal gardens in the country, and admiring some of the finest 2,000-year-old mosaics in the UK.

All workshops are designed to support key areas of your curriculum and the National Curriculum.
