This offer applies only when mums are accompanied with a paying guest.

A tranquil spot for the whole family to explore on Mother’s Day

Michelham Priory boasts beautiful gardens and stunning views of the surrounding countryside, making it a perfect place for a leisurely stroll.

The Priory dates back to 1229 and sits in the middle of a medieval moated island.

There are seven acres of grounds to explore, featuring spring flowers, a vegetable plot and a physic garden, which contains herbs used for healing in the medieval period.

Visitors can explore 800 years of history on the site, with a focus on Tudors, Victorians and World War Two.

Explore the historic Tudor mansion and gardens, or simply relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

For children, there are plenty of activities to keep them entertained, including dressing-up areas and an outdoor playground.

For those who want to treat the loved ones in their life, the on-site Dovecote Shop contains a range of gifts to take home.

Mother’s Day in Sussex at Michelham Priory – FAQs

What are the timings of Mother’s Day celebrations at Michelham Priory?

The site, which is on a private medieval island in Upper Dicker, near Hailsham, is open from Thursday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm. Last admission is 30 minutes before closing.

 

Is there a fee for admission?

Yes, there is a fee for admission to Michelham Priory.

Admission is £13 for adults, £12 for seniors and children aged 5 to 17 cost £6.50. Under 5s go free.

Those who chose to Gift Aid their admission are entitled to 12 months free entry from the date of visit.

Members of The Sussex Archaeological Society can visit Michelham Priory and any of our other heritage sites in Sussex for free.

As a special thank you, we’re providing free entry to mums and grandmas this Mother’s Day when accompanied by a paying guest.

Is there a cafe?

Hot and cold refreshments are available in the Bean Bike Cafe, or you are also welcome to bring your own picnic and enjoy it in the beautiful surroundings of Michelham Priory.

 

Is there free parking on site?

Yes, there is plenty of free parking on site at Michelham Priory. The car park has a capacity for about 130 cars.

Follow the brown signs as you near the destination or use BN27 3QS on Google Maps.

For those who are cycling, there are bike racks near the gatehouse.

 

How do I buy tickets?

Tickets can be pre-booked by clicking here. Mums, grandmas or female role models go free – no need to book a ticket.

Alternatively, you can pay on the day on arrival at the ticket office in the Gatehouse.
