Visit Michelham Priory House & Gardens from Thursday 25th May

The gates at Michelham Priory House & Gardens near Hailsham swing open once again, as the historic site welcomes visitors this summer.

We are delighted to welcome visitors back to Michelham Priory House & Gardens, with the historic site reopening on Thursday 25th May.

Open from Thursday to Sunday each week up to the end of June, we’ll be celebrating our opening weekend by offering 2-for-1 tickets* on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th May.

Wander around our stunning gardens, explore the Tudor mansion and enjoy the tranquility of this hidden gem, nestled in the heart of the Cuckmere Valley.

Children can enjoy dressing up in our World War II area, and blow off steam in our outdoor adventure playground.

Explore 800 years of history and seven acres of delightful gardens

Head Gardener James and his team of dedicated volunteers have remained busy throughout the cooler months, ensuring the eight acres of stunning gardens are looking shipshape ready for visitors to enjoy.

Amongst many garden highlights are the cascading lilac blooms from the vegetable garden Wisteria,

Visitors are also welcome to explore the site on their own. They can discover more about the history associated with this Augustinian Priory and Tudor mansion. The site also has links to the Tudor, Victorian and World War Two periods.

Michelham Priory – Summer opening times

The site, which is on a private medieval island in Upper Dicker, near Hailsham, will be open to the general public as follows:

25th May to 30th June – Thursday to Sunday.

1st July to 29th October – Tuesday to Sunday (open on bank holidays).

Opening times are 10.00am to 5pm with last admission 30 minutes before closing.

 

Booking and admission

Admission is £13 for adults, £12 for seniors and children aged 5 to 17 cost £6.50. Under 5s go free.

Those who chose to Gift Aid their admission are entitled to 12 months free entry from the date of visit.

Members of The Sussex Archaeological Society can visit any of our sites for free.

Refreshments

Coffee, homemade cakes, light bite snacks, cold drinks and ice creams are available from our pop-up café, or bring a picnic to enjoy in our delightful grounds.

The playground and adjoining picnic area is open for those with younger visitors.
