Journey through time and uncover the rich history from the Stone Age to the Normans at Fishbourne Roman Palace’s Meet the Ancestors event this weekend

Prepare to be transported through time this weekend Raven Tor Living History group descend on the Palace for our Meet the Ancestors event on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th June.

The Meet the Ancestors event offers an opportunity for history enthusiasts and curious minds to immerse themselves in the captivating tapestry of human civilization. From the intriguing Stone Age to the transformative Norman era, visitors will travel the historical timeline at one of the UK’s most renowned historical sites.

Get hands-on with interactive activities including drop-spinning, finger weaving and tablet weaving.

Portraying the history of the site of the Palace from the Stone Age hunter-gatherers, to the farmers of the Bronze Age, the warriors of the Iron Age, the Romans through to the Normans, with 8,000 years of craft, costume, and demonstrations of weapons, armour and combat.

On Saturday 3rd June, falconer Kevin from Hawking About will be joining us with his stunning birds of prey.

Visitors can also marvel at the 2,000-year-old mosaics, which are the largest and finest collection of in-situ Roman floors in the country.

Dress up as a Roman in our new selfie zone, take an activity trail around the site and have a go at some ancient crafts.

Roam around our stunning recreated Roman gardens and enjoy a bite to eat from our on-site cafe.
