Looking for something to do in Lewes this October half term? Enjoy a family day out with our fun holiday activities at Lewes Castle & Museum and Anne of Cleves House this October half term holiday.

Dress up in armour, play games, have a go at arts and crafts and more at Lewes Castle on Monday 24 October.

From 10am to 11am, children with additional needs and their families can enjoy our fun family activities in a relaxed environment, as well as exploring the 900-year old fortress and grounds at our Morning Explorer session.

And from 11am to 1pm, visitors can drop in for fun activities in the gun garden at the castle as part of our popular Medieval Monday sessions.

Head over to Anne of Cleves House for Tudor Tuesday fun on Tuesday 25 October from 1pm to 4pm, as the historic medieval hall house is brought to life with weaving, spinning, arts and crafts, games and more.

Budding archaeologists will love our Amazing Archaeology drop-in session at Lewes Castle on Thursday 27 October from 12pm to 4pm. Try out hands-on activities like digging, sorting, classifying and recording, and handle real artefacts from our collections.

Families visiting the historic sites, which are owned and cared for by the Sussex Archaeological Society, can take part in the activities as well as enjoying everything else the stunning properties have to offer, including glorious 360 degree views of Lewes and the surrounding South Downs.

All activities are included in general admission. Visitors will also gain entry to the Museum of Sussex Archaeology, which is currently displaying fascinating items from 175 years of collecting to mark the society’s landmark anniversary.

Sean Arnold, property manager at Lewes Castle, said: “There is a lot to keep all ages engaged and entertained at Lewes Castle over the half-term break. These hands-on activities give everyone an opportunity to handle real artefacts from the museum and hear vivid stories from the castle’s rich history bringing the past to life.”

Lewes Castle & Museum is open from 10am to 5pm every day during October.

Anne of Cleves House Museum is open from 10am to 5pm, Tuesday to Sunday and closes for the winter season on Sunday 30 October, so don’t miss out on your chance to visit this stunning Tudor house.
