As a registered charity we work hard to ensure keep the costs for schools as low as possible. School groups receive a group rate discount admission. There is an additional charge on top of admission for workshops and other resources. To find out about current charges please email LearningLewes@sussexpast.co.uk. Do accompanying adults need to pay admission? Adults accompanying the school group visit do not need to pay admission to the site or workshops. Adults must remain with their students throughout the visit. What are the required ratios for school visits? Reception & Key Stage 1 – 1 adult for every 6 students Key Stage 2 – 1 adult for every 10 students Key Stage 3-5 – 1 adult for every 15 students How many pupils can you accommodate per visit at Lewes Castle? Lewes Castle can accommodate up to 60 pupils every day. Pre-booking is essential for all learning visits. How many pupils can you accommodate per visit at Anne of Cleves House? Anne of Cleves House can accommodate up to 60 pupils every day. Pre-booking is essential for all learning visits. Is there coach parking at Lewes Castle? There is no coach parking at Lewes Castle but vehicles are able to drop off directly outside the site, by pulling up on at the bus stop in the High Street. The nearest coach parking is at the car park in Spring Gardens, Lewes, BN7 3PS (see Lewes District Council website). Is there coach parking at Anne of Cleves House? There is no coach parking at Anne of Cleves House but vehicles are able to drop off directly outside the property. Planning visits are free of charge so you can carry out a risk assessment. A safety information sheet, resources and additional information about the site to help plan your visit will be sent direct, once booking has been made. Lewes Castle is located in the centre of Lewes on the high street. It is a 10-minute walk from Lewes train station and two minutes from public bus stops. The town is easily reached from Brighton, Eastbourne and the rest of Sussex, as well as Kent and Surrey. It is easily accessed from the A27, A26 and A275. Where is Anne of Cleves House located? Anne of Cleves House is on Southover High Street in Lewes. It is a 10-minute walk from Lewes train station and 15 minute walk from the bus stops on the High Street. – Gift shop What should I do on arrival? When your school party arrives, you will be met by a member of the Learning Team. Please note, access is across a public highway and care should be taken. What happens if I am late or need to cancel? Please call the site on 01273 405730 as soon as possible if you are going to be late for a visit. If you need to cancel your visit at short notice, you may incur a cancellation charge in line with our cancellation policy. If a cancellation has to be made due to exceptional circumstances, every effort will be made to reschedule your visit. Is photography and filming allowed on-site? You are more than welcome to photograph your school pupils enjoying their visit, along with our site and exhibitions. How do I pay? Your group or school will be invoiced following your visit. Payment for school sessions are usually made by bank transfer. Details will be found on your invoice. |
