Looking for free family fun this October Half Term? Visit Michelham Priory and take part in a spooky Ghostly trail around one of the UK’s most haunted buildings this Halloween – with up to three under 18s receiving free entry for every paying adult.

The medieval moated island of Michelham Priory has 800 years of history. It is regularly named one of the most haunted buildings in the country.

Visitors during October half term sign up to the Ghostly Trail. This is a self-led trail that takes you around different spots connected to the ghostly history of the site which you can do each day during the half term holiday.

Up to three kids go free to Michelham Priory this October half term (Saturday October 22 to Sunday October 30) with a paying adult.

Two days of free family activities

Those who visit on Wednesday 26 October and Saturday 29 October can take part in Harvest, Herbs and Halloween.

From 11am to 4pm, free family-friendly autumnal activities will be available to visitors.

There’ll also be a chance to handle artefacts, including real archaeological finds, play games and explore the site.

Activities are free with a suggested donation of £2 per child to cover the cost of materials.

Michelham Priory House & Gardens is open Tuesday to Sunday, from 10.30am to 5pm.

Free parking and free WiFi is available on the site. And the café has a range of local produce, including homemade cakes, sandwiches and drinks. With seven acres of grounds and a revamped children’s playground, there are plenty of places for youngsters to explore.

Michelham Priory is owned and cared for The Sussex Archaeological Society, a registered charity.

Among the other sites in its guardianship are Lewes Castle & Museum, Anne of Cleves House in Lewes, Fishbourne Roman Palace, near Chichester and the Long Man of Wilmington.

Members of the Society are able to enjoy unlimited year-round access to all of the historic sites, with prices starting from £20 a year.
