Gift Aid & Annual Pass FAQs

What is Gift Aid?

Sussex Past is the working name for The Sussex Archaeological Society, a registered charity dedicated to promoting, protecting and providing access to the heritage of Sussex,

If you’re a UK taxpayer, we can claim an additional 25p from the Government for every £1 that you spend on admission tickets for yourself and your family. This additional contribution will not cost you a penny, but it will make a big difference to our work.

In order for you to make a Gift Aid Donation you must:

• Be paying for yourself or your family to visit one of our historic sites.

• Expect in the current tax year to pay Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax at least equal to the tax the charity reclaims on your donation.

Gift Aid is a great way to support UK charities; if you would like to find out more about the scheme click here.

How do I claim an Annual Pass?

It’s completely free to convert a single admission ticket to a Sussex Past Property into an Annual Pass; you just need to donate the cost to our charity during purchase.

To take advantage of this offer online, tick the Gift Aid box when purchasing a ticket. You will then be able to receive an Annual Pass at the ticket office when you visit the site.

Alternatively, you can choose to donate your admission when buying tickets in person. Our Front of House teams will then provide you with an Annual Pass.

The pass will provide you readmission to a named Sussex Past site for 12 months. Terms and Conditions apply.

Please note:

• The Annual Pass is only eligible for a single Sussex Past property, where the donation for original admission was made.

• Under charity law, we are not permitted to refund donations once the payment has been processed.

• It is the responsibility of the customer to retain the Gift Aid re-admission pass, as we are unable to re-issue a pass if it is lost.

• Annual passes are not valid on up to five Annual Pass exempt event days at each of our sites per year. Check in advance for details. (see below)
