It’s that time of the year again when the CBA Festival of Archaeology is upon us, an annual celebration of archaeology from 15th to 30th July.

This year the theme of the festival is ‘Archaeology and Creativity‘ and to celebrate, The Sussex Archaeological Society is running the below events.

Archaeology and Creativity Festival

We’re delighted to be working with Brighton Young Archaeologist’s Club to host a festival of archaeology-inspired creativity at the Gun Garden at Lewes Castle.

Included in the Festival’s activities are Archaeodiscovery- Archaeology-inspired play!, Author and archaeologist Jake R. Wilson, The Pointy End – Ancient Crafts and Flintwork, Sussex Finds Liaison Team and more!

Entrance to the Archaeology and Creativity Festival at Lewes Castle is free. Suitable for all ages.

Sandpit Searchers

Dig around a giant sandpit to find artefacts from Fishbourne from 20,000 years ago to 2 years ago. 

Budding archaeologists can enjoy life in the day of an archaeologist in this activity, which is free with general admission.

Recommended ages 4-12.
