Enjoy Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors surrounded by a 900-year old Norman fortress

Join this unique troupe in the Gun Garden of Lewes Castle for a bicycle-powered production of Shakespeare’s ‘The Comedy of Errors’ like you’ve never seen before. When two sets of estranged twins are brought together on the same island, this classic comedy takes hold, with mistaken identity, music and manic costume changes aplenty.

★★★★★ – “Explodes with energy and is a genuine treat from start to finish” – The Stage, on the HandleBards’ Twelfth Night

The HandleBards are a group of cycling Shakespearean actors who carry all of their set, props and costumes on the back of their bikes, performing extremely energetic, charmingly chaotic and environmentally sustainable Shakespeare plays across the UK.

This is an outdoor production, so please bring your own chair or blanket to sit on, a picnic and drinks to enjoy, and dress for the weather! The show will go on come rain or shine, so bring a raincoat or poncho if the weather isn’t in our favour!
