Consonus Baroque and Sussex Past are delighted to present the first in a series of Spring concerts to be held in the historic setting of Anne of Cleves House.

In the concert ‘House of Bach’, you will experience the glory of J.S. Bach’s Trio in G major, a mature work of huge depth and emotional expression. We will then play chamber music written by Bach’s four composing sons: WF, CPE, JCF and JC Bach, all successful and outstanding musicians and composers in their own right.

Bach’s four composing sons were all taught by Bach himself, and whilst Bach’s influence is clear, you will hear the development of musical styles from the Baroque to the Classical, ending with Mozart’s childhood composition teacher, JC Bach. Their works encompass emotions profound, witty, charming and joyful, yet all with very different and individual voices. We will then circle back to play part of what is widely regarded as one of the greatest achievements of Western culture, and the culmination of a lifetime’s work, J.S. Bach’s ‘The Art of Fugue’.

Enjoy the sounds of this celebrated composer amongst the historic Tudor setting of Anne of Cleves House in Lewes.

Doors open at 6.30pm with a selection of wine, beer and soft drinks on offer.
