In an announcement withheld until after the conclusion of our nation’s period of mourning for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the Council of Trustees of The Sussex Archaeological Society wish to make known that Andrew Edwards stepped down from the role of Chief Executive with the Society on Friday 9th September 2022, to pursue new interests. Andrew was appointed in April 2021, following a significant period of instability for the Society and during a national lockdown. In addition to navigating the Society through the re-opening of its historic sites through the summer of 2021, Andrew’s work has focussed on achieving a degree of stability and sense of purpose to the Society. In addition to establishing a new leadership team, Andrew has led the delivery of new programmes of work and improved both the culture and communication within the organisation and beyond. Amanda Jones, Chair of the Council of Trustees said: “We would like to thank Andrew for everything that he has achieved at the Society during these enormously challenging times. Most especially for the kindness and consideration he has shown in every aspect of his work. On behalf of everyone at the Society, we wish him well in his future endeavours.” Andrew Edwards, outgoing Chief Executive said: “It has been a real privilege to lead this wonderful and unique organisation over the last 17 months. I hope that the work I have done for the Society has gone some way to providing a good foundation for the future, and I wish trustees, staff and volunteers the very best.” Trustees are currently making plans to ensure continuity in the Society’s executive leadership and will be announcing further details very soon. |
