We’re pleased to welcome the Butser IX Legion to Fishbourne Roman Palace as they take a well-earned day of leave from their usual post at Butser Ancient Farm – the world-famous experimental archaeology site near Charlton in Hampshire.

The Legion will be bringing Roman history to life with interactive displays of authentic armour and weaponry, which visitors can try on to get a real sense of the kit a Roman soldier would have carried. They’ll also be sharing insights into Roman food and daily life.

Weather permitting, an outdoor demonstration will take place, with plenty of opportunities for children to get hands-on.

Come along and meet the re-enactors, ask questions, and experience history brought vividly to life – all included with standard admission.
