Senior Officer in Further and Higher Education administration and Policy Development in London. Glynn arrived in Brighton in 1988 to become Chief Executive of the then Brighton Borough Council where he led the complete reorganisation of the authority and its successful bid to become the Unitary Authority of Brighton and Hove and with others, its successful bid for City Status.

Very proud to have promoted and developed with others in the communities, a greater understanding and embracing of the vibrant mix of cultures, communities and lifestyles which contribute significantly to the sense of place which is, Brighton and Hove.

Glynn took early retirement in 2001 and then held a number of positions as Chair within the NHS including the then Brighton and Sussex Universities NHS Trust.

Worked for the former Government Audit Commission and led on its reviews of local authorities across the UK; acted as Advisor to various central Government Departments and was also appointed a Member of the Appointments Panel for senior appointments in the Police, Fire and Prison Services.

Served on the Council of the University of Sussex for 5 years and was awarded a Doctorate in recognition in 2004 and later that year was appointed by HM the Queen as a Deputy Lord Lieutenant for East Sussex.

Served also as Chair of a number of local charities including Emmaus, the West Pier Trust, the Friends of Brighton and Hove Hospitals, the Tourism Advisory Board and the Hanover Band.

In 2014, was awarded by HM the Queen the title of Officer of the British Empire OBE for services to the communities of Sussex.

Appointed as Trustee of the Sussex Archaeological Society in August 2020  and has held positions as Chair of the Finance and General Purposes and currently as Governance Audit and Risk Committees.
