Youngsters get Footsore for Fishbourne Roman Palace

Two intrepid youngsters are going the extra mile by climbing six historic landmarks while dressed in authentic Roman and Iron Age costumes to raise money for Fishbourne Roman Palace, which is owned and cared for by The Sussex Archaeological Society.

The Footsore for Fishbourne Fundraiser is being led by sisters Daisy, 11, and Ivy, 8, who plan to walk up six hillforts in Sussex and Hampshire during the autumn.

In addition to raising money for the Palace, which is the largest Roman domestic property in the country, the pair will also be earning some Brownie and Girl Guiding badges in the process.

The challenge started last week when the two girls were joined by parents Vikki and Nick in scaling their first hillfort, St Catherine’s Hill in Winchester, complete with Roman and Iron Age outfits. That was followed by Old Winchester Hill on October 1st.

After completing the second of the six-past challenge the pair had already raised nearly £400 for Fishbourne Roman Palace.
