Join us at Fishbourne Roman Palace on Tuesday 27th May, for Latin and Ancient Greek taster sessions for both children and adults.

These short, engaging sessions offer a fun introduction to the basics of these ancient languages.

Children’s Taster Sessions
Ancient Greek:
11am – 11.30am
Latin: 1pm – 1.30pm

Kids can explore the basics of Latin and Ancient Greek in fun, interactive sessions. In Latin, they’ll learn numbers and animal names before meeting King Togidubnus’s cat, Moggidubnus, and translating simple sentences. The Greek session introduces the alphabet and famous mythological names, with a chance to write their own name in Ancient Greek and enjoy a short mythological story.

Children must be supervised by an adult. Suggested age 8+

Adults’ Taster Sessions
Ancient Greek: 11.45am – 12.15pm
Latin: 1.45pm -2.15pm

Adults will get a deeper dive into Latin and Ancient Greek, discovering language links and historical connections. The Latin session introduces the story of King Togidubnus through inscriptions and simple translations, while the Greek session covers the alphabet, transliteration, and a short historical or mythological text to bring the language to life.

Sessions run on a drop-in basis and are included in general admission, but places are limited. If you’d like to guarantee a space, email learningfrp@sussexpast.co.uk to reserve a spot by Monday 26th May.
