Join us for an Autumn Talk with Gary Webster from the Changing Chalk project.

Gary will provide an overview of the aims of the Changing Chalk project, outlining how it seeks to drive positive change on the South Downs. This will include an update on the Monument Mentors project, highlighting its progress and showcasing some of the resources developed to support the initiative. Gary will discuss strategies for protecting the monuments on the Downs, emphasising the importance of community involvement. Additionally, the speaker will present the latest findings from the Downs From Above data, sharing key insights and explaining how attendees can contribute to the ongoing efforts of these projects.

Gary has spent over 12 years as a commercial archaeologist on a variety of sites in the South East, with highlights being the Prescot Street Excavation in East London and Pococks Field in Eastbourne. He now works within the Archaeology Team of the National Trust, delivering the Monument Mentors and Downs From Above projects as the Changing Chalk Heritage Officer.
