Learning at Marlipins Museum

The Learning Team offers artefact handling and story-telling to support history for primary schools.

We offer a wide range of local history workshops for KS1 and KS2 and are also happy to design sessions to fit your topic or age-group. We provide resources and museum trails for teachers to use with their groups as well as outreach boxes for some topics.

Please contact the Museums Officer on 01273 405739 or marlipins@sussexpast.co.uk to discuss or book a visit.

We recommend that bookings are made a minimum of six weeks in advance and that teachers arrange a planning visit to complete their risk assessment.

Session times. Visits usually begin at 10.30 am. We can teach two sessions in the morning and two in the afternoon. We recommend a maximum of 30 children.

Costs: £3.40 per child per workshop, plus admission price.

Payment. Payment for all visits is usually in arrears and by invoice. Cheques should be made payable to Sussex Past. You will only pay for the children who attend.

Accompanying Adults. We expect children to be supervised at all times by adults from your school on a ratio of one to five. These adults are admitted free. One-to-one support staff are also admitted free. Additional adults are charged the current admission rate.

Cancellations. If a visit is cancelled with less than two working days’ notice we reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee of 25% of the full cost of the visit.
