Thursday 16th – Sunday 19th August, 11am-4pm
A unique opportunity to understand and appreciate the skills of ancient Roman craft workers.
We are pleased to welcome back the Roman trader, who will set up his stall in the Palace gardens and be on hand to demonstrate how many different items were made in ancient times. Including jewellery, toys, hair and beauty, games, medical instruments and books, this is a fascinating opportunity to see first hand the process of making an authentic replica artefact.
On Thursday 16th August visitors will be able to have their hair styled in a Roman way, while over the weekend, the traders will be demonstrating ancient book-binding techniques.
On Sunday 19th August the traders will be joined by Roman soldiers and civilians from the Butser IX legion demonstrating other aspects of Roman life.
