More than 50 years after its discovery, archaeologists will be back on the site at Fishbourne Roman Palace this summer providing visitors to the Palace with the opportunity to join in and try their hand at excavation.
From Tuesday 25th July – Friday 4th August, in conjunction with the Festival of British Archaeology, a trench will be dug and visitors will be given the chance to get their hands dirty and, if they are lucky, find a Roman artefact or two. They will then be able to wash their finds, have them identified by an expert and be shown what happens next.
The event is open to everyone, with opportunities for children, archaeology students and adults to get involved!
The dig is included in standard admission charges. No need to book, just come along and join in!
