Halloween Ghost Hunt at Michelham Priory

This event is now sold out

Step into the origins of Halloween with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, a mystical celebration that marked the end of the harvest and the start of the long, dark winter. On the night of 31st October, the Celts believed the veil between the living and the dead thinned, allowing spirits to roam the earth.

Believed by many as the portal into the world of the supernatural, Halloween is the perfect opportunity to investigate Michelham Priory. Over the years, there have been many reports of spooky moments along the corridors and rooms of the Tudor mansion, which sits atop a medieval priory.

Why Michelham Priory?

Michelham Priory was chosen by Living TV’s Most Haunted for its debut and centenary shows. Michelham Priory’s fascinating 800-year history, from its foundation by Augustinian canons, through the destruction caused by the dissolution of the monasteries in Tudor times and into its later life as a country house offers many ghost stories from its darker past including the Ghost of a former owner, a little girl, a shimmering lady, a Tudor cook, a maid and the Black Canon to name but a few. Put this together with the many accounts of Poltergeist activity footsteps, thumps and voices and I’m sure we are all in for an interesting night.

What will happen during the Ghost Hunt?

In small teams, the mission will be to collect evidence using traditional methods such as automatic writing and glass moving, right up to the latest ghost equipment using thermal imaging, infrared, electromagnetic field meters and so on.

No experiment is compulsory as we do our best to identify who the ghosts are, and why they haunt this location through deep data analysis after the event.

While we can’t promise any ghostly encounters, we’re certainly hoping for a few spine-tingling surprises along the way! Due to the nature of the event, this experience is reserved for adults only.

This event is a fundraiser for our Dovecote Shop Appeal and we are grateful to Paranormal Investigation Gathering Service (P.I.G.S) for kindly providing their service for free to support our fundraising efforts.

Make sure you bundle up, as the house can get chilly in the evening, but don’t hesitate to dress up in your favourite (and warm) Halloween costume!

Guests will have a break in the cafe where the Friends of Michelham Priory will provide light refreshments, or you’re welcome to bring a packed lunch if you prefer.
