Forest Row – a changing forest-edge village

This walk around the centre of Forest Row, led by members of the Ashdown Forest Research Group, will explore how and why a late medieval village began, and the influences of the iron industry and Ashdown Forest. It will then show how this growing village adapted to major changes in the late 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries, including the impact of improved transport and an influx of a well-to-do population attracted by the proximity to Ashdown.
