We are delighted to announce that much loved historical author and historian Alison Weir will be coming to Michelham Priory on 9th December at 2pm to read from and talk about her new novel Anne Boleyn: A King’s Obsession.
Anne Boleyn: A King’s Obsession is the second book in the Six Tudor Queens Series. Alison Weir weaves new research and theories into the dark, powerful tale of Henry VIII’s second wife – a woman ahead of her time, who dared to question traditional concepts of femininity, and whose ambition drove her to gamble with the fickle nature of a dangerous king. Fresh from the sophisticated palaces of Burgundy and France, Anne draws attention at the English court, embracing the play of courtly love. But when the King commands, nothing is ever a game. She has a spirit worthy of a crown – and a crown is what she seeks. And so she embarks on her perilous course, which will plunge a kingdom into turmoil.
Michelham Priory has a long and colourful history with connections to Queen Anne’s story through the infamous Thomas Cromwell who once kept Michelham Priory as his hunting lodge.
The talk with begin at 2pm in the Elizabethan Barn on Saturday 9th December. Tickets cost £9.40 and include access to the house and grounds. Tickets can be purchased on the website below on in person at Michelham Priory from the Gatehouse Reception. Light refreshments will be available and the barn bar will be open before the reading.
