The gates at Michelham Priory House & Gardens near Hailsham swing open once again, as the historic site welcomes visitors this spring, and we’re delighted to offer 2-for-1 tickets to everyone visiting on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd March

We’re delighted to welcome visitors back once again. To celebrate our opening weekend, we’re offering visitors 2-for-1 tickets* on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd March.

Wander around our stunning gardens, explore the Tudor mansion and enjoy the tranquility of this hidden gem, nestled in the heart of the Cuckmere Valley.

Children can enjoy dressing up in our World War II area, and blow off steam in our outdoor adventure playground.

Explore 800 years of history and seven acres of delightful gardens

Head Gardener James and his team of dedicated volunteers have remained busy throughout the cooler months, ensuring the eight acres of stunning gardens are looking shipshape ready for visitors to enjoy.

Visitors are also welcome to explore the site on their own. They can discover more about the history associated with this Augustinian Priory and Tudor mansion. The site also has links to the Tudor, Victorian and World War Two periods.

 

Michelham Priory – 2025 opening times

The site, which is on a private medieval island in Upper Dicker, near Hailsham, will be open to the general public as follows:

1st to 30th March – Thursday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm

1st April to 5th October – Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 5pm

7th October – 30th November – Thursday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm

 

Booking and admission

Admission is £13 for adults, £12 for seniors and children aged 5 to 17 cost £6.50. Under 5s go free.

Those who choose to Gift Aid their admission are entitled to 12 months free entry from the date of visit.

Members of The Sussex Archaeological Society can visit any of our sites for free.

2-for-1 Offer* – Lower priced ticket goes free. This offer cannot be combined with any other promotion. Tickets can be purchased on the day or online in advance. For online bookings, purchase one ticket for every two guests; one guest will be admitted free of charge upon arrival.

 

Refreshments

Coffee, cakes, light bite snacks and cold drinks are available from a mobile food vendor as our cafe is currently closed for refurbishment.

The playground and adjoining picnic area is open for those with younger visitors.

Michelham Priory House & Gardens is among the eight Sussex Past heritage sites owned and cared for by the Sussex Archaeological Society, the county’s largest heritage-based organisation and charity.
