Lewes has good train and bus links. The train station is a five minute walk from the castle and there is a taxi rank outside the main entrance to the station.
Buses stop in the High Street, close to the castle.
For further help with public transport visit Traveline. Car parking and coach parking are available in the town.
Accessibility. The historic nature of the castle site means access is limited to ground level for anyone who has difficulty walking. There is an accessible pavilion in the Gun Garden with panels depicting the panorama visible from the top of the keep. Assistance dogs are welcome and some interpretation panels are in braille. The museum: there is a small flight of steps down to the ground floor galleries and another, larger, flight up to those on the first floor. Due to the historic nature of the building there is no lift. Large print information is available at the reception desk and in the galleries.
