An exhibition of early images and memorabilia from the pioneering years of flight in Shoreham-by-Sea. Many of the original photographs have been enlarged and show fine detail of early aircraft and pilots. Memorabilia includes a propeller from the revolutionary 1912 Lee-Richards annular winged monoplane (a low aspect ratio concept later found in 'flying wing' aircraft and stealth bombers!). Also on display is a working model marking the first known commercial flight, from Shoreham to Hove, using a 1912 Valkyrie B.
Come to Shoreham and make a day of it! There are plenty of good cafes and pubs, two fine Romanesque churches, a Victorian fort and of course the Grade 1 listed Art Deco Airport Terminal. Tickets are only £2 for adults and £1 for children.
